Church bomb blast in Philippines killed 17

At least 17 people were killed in a bomb blast in a church in southern Philippines. This incident happened on Sunday morning. According to government sources, the BBC report said 42 people were injured in the incident.

The explosion occurred in the Roman Catholic Church named Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the Yellow Island of the Philippines. At this time church prayer was going on in the church. The first blast took place in the church. After the soldiers became active, another explosion took place in front of the church parking park.
There are many Muslim militant activities on the island of Jolo. There are also many known Abu Sayyaf militants.

The first explosion took place at around 9.30am local time. The blast occurred earlier in the church. Local residents and security forces are among the casualties. Various photos posted on social media have shown that the main road to the church has been blocked by the army.

Last week, voting took place in autonomous regions of South Philippines in more than one place. There voted for the creation of the bongsamora autonomous region. The explosions happened in the Jolo area today, it fell into the province of Sulo. There, however, the verdict against autonomy was passed by people.
